ROY HARRIS
BJJ SEMINAR
TAKE A DEEP DIVE WITH A BJJ PIONEER INTO ONE OF THE TOUGHEST TOPICS IN BJJ - PASSING THE GUARD
Guard Passing is a complex challenge – there are so many styles of guard play, so many traps to avoid, so much risk of being swept, armlocked, choked, or leglocked. From uncrossing the ankles in Closed Guard to dealing with inversion and Reverse De La Riva, the dangers are endless.
Learn from 6th degree Black Belt and BJJ Legend Roy Harris – world-renowned as a “teacher’s teacher” in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (as well as in Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Martial Arts), as he returns to Connecticut for the first time since 2019.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
Hear from Roy Harris himself about how he trains students to develop a high level of skill quickly:
“I’ve taught my unique guard passing methods (not techniques) to a handful of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belts – who train primarily at other academies. Two weeks after practicing what I had taught them, they were easily passing the guards of their fellow blue and purple belts at the academies where they trained. After another 4 weeks of training, they were now passing the guards of the purple, brown, and even some black belts.”
“And just so we’re clear, I’m not talking about guard passing “techniques.” Rather, I’m talking about fourteen POSITIONS from which they are safe from sweeps, arm locks and chokes – all without using any forms of posture – regardless of which guard the opponent uses.”
“What’s been fun for me to observe is when I watch them perform isolated sparring. When one student uses various guards and tries to attack their training partner’s arm, neck and balance but then the other student maintains their balance and positioning, doesn’t get swept, arm locked or choked, and eventually passes the guard, my heart swells with pride.”
